First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, once owned this Abercrombie and Fitch golf club. The club was sourced from a National Park Service sponsored estate auction for the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site in 1986. Abercrombie and Fitch was once one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the country and this line of clubs was popular at the time. The Roosevelt family were longtime customers of Abercrombie and Fitch as Eleanor Roosevelt’s uncle, President Theodoore Roosevelt, purchased Safari equipment from the company. The club has a sticker reading “Estate of Eleanor Roosevelt No. 1523 5pcs Hyde Park, NY”. The item number 1523 matches the catalog listing but this club has been separated from the original 5 piece set. Accompanied by a photocopy of the estate auction catalog.
