The NY Yankees 1961 season was indeed special. Not only did they add another World Championship to the team’s unrivaled history, but the season is most remembered for two sluggers chasing Babe Ruth’s single season home run record. Mickey and Roger went down to the wire, with Mantle hitting 54 and Maris surpassing The Babe by belting number 61 on October 1st, the season’s final day. Additionally, the ‘61 team set a Major League record by hitting 240 home runs, a record which stood until 1996. Unquestionably, this phenomenal team is in the conversation for the greatest of all time. This 1961 New York Yankees team photographic display hung in Yankee Stadium until its de-accession during the 1970s renovations. This vintage photographic display measures an impressive 36" x 65" picturing the World Champion Yankees posed in full uniform. It is titled at the bottom, "New York Yankees 1961 World Champions.” The image quality is very fine for its large size with some typical edge wear and a small surface scratch/indentation on the front. It is in EX overall condition.
