He was once quoted saying “Getting a daily hit became more important to me than eating, drinking or sleeping” after his 61 game hit streak in the PCL. DiMaggio enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces on February 17, 1943, rising to the rank of sergeant. The pair are each original patches issued to DiMaggio while serving in the U.S. Army. Each patch measure 5” tall and are in EX condition overall. Lot includes a black and white 8” x 10” of DiMaggio from his personal collection receiving a similar patch in his U.S. army uniform.
