Johnny Unitas was one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. During his 18 year NFL career, Unitas led the Colts to three NFL championships, including one Super Bowl, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979. At the time of his retirement, he held records for the most pass attempts, most completions, most total yards, most touchdowns, most 300-yard games, and most consecutive games throwing touchdown passes. This "Rawlings" manufactured helmet has been re-conditioned with the inner webbing being removed. Inside is player number "19" written twice in black marker. On the back of the helmet is player number "19" in blue stickers. On the right rear of the helmet is "Air-Flo HND-9 7-1/8-7-1/4". Inside the inner waistband of the pants is the "RUSSELL SOUTHERN" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and size "34." Player number "19" is written in black marker. Both the helmet and pants show game-use and except for the helmet being re-conditioned with the webbing removed appears to have no alterations of any kind. Also included is a blue nameplate from a 1970-71 blue nylon durene jersey. It measures 16-3/4" x 3-1/2" and has player name "UNITAS" done in white tackle twill. These items were originally sourced from an ex-Colts employee.
