“GoldSmith” manufactured “Official 97 league”, red-and-black stitched baseball features 23 signatures in total including seven Hall of Famers in Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Joe McCarthy (ss), Joe Gordon, Lefty Gomez, Bill Dickey and Ray Schalk (ss). The signatures are done in both blue and black ink and range in rating from 5-9 with Gehrig a strong 7. We were told by our consignor that the baseball originates from a barnstorming exhibition game that was held in Little Rock, Arkansas sometime in the late 1930s. The south panel features the stamped signature of Trammell Scott who served as President of the Southern Association from 1938-1942. Additional signatures include Tom Henrich, Mickey C. Harris (ss), Frank Crosetti, Paul Schreiber, Arthur Fletcher, Johnny Schulte, Joe Gallagher, Red Rolfe, Buddy Rosar, John Michaels and Johnny Murphy. The ball shows some toning and spotting throughout, EX condition. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
