Perhaps the greatest third baseman of all time, Pie Traynor spent his entire playing and managing career with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1920-1937), winning the World Series in 1925. He hit .346 in that Series, homering off Walter Johnson in the opener. Traynor had a lifetime .320 batting average, hitting .342 between 1925 and 1930. Despite hitting .366 in 1930, he was eclipsed by teammate Paul Waner, who hit .368 that year. Furthermore, Traynor struck out only seven times that season. He was a tremendous fielder, leading the National League in putouts seven times. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1948, Traynor died in 1972. We offer an ONL Frick ball, lightly toned, signed in ballpoint on the sweet spot by Traynor, who added the side panel inscription "To Bob, With best regards." The signature and inscription are bold and clear, grading a 9. Comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
