The Baby Ruth candy bar was not named after the great slugger Babe Ruth, as is the common myth, but rather after President Grover Cleveland's daughter Ruth. Produced by the Curtiss Candy Company in Chicago, the Baby Ruth bar was actually a "remake" of their first confection, the "Kandy Kake." Upon adding caramel and peanuts and renaming the candy bar, "Baby Ruth" became an instant success. We offer a 1940s vintage large painted Baby Ruth candy bar wooden shipping crate, measuring 40" x 10", with the Baby Ruth logo painted on top and original shipping labels on the side. The two-piece lidded box has original cast iron handles at both ends and has retained 95% of its original paint. It is in overall excellent condition.
