Juan Gonzalez has always been a power hitter. With 429 home runs coming into the 2004 season, he's chasing that magic 500 number. He is a three time All-Star, and has won the AL MVP award in 1996 and 1998. Not only can he hit them over the wall, but he can also drive in runs, as he once had 157 RBI's in one season, and averages almost 93 RBI's a season. This lot features a Juan Gonzalez bat and pair cleats. These items were used in 2004, as he was a member of the Kansas City Royals. The bat and cleats were used in the game that he hit his first home run as a Royal. The cleats are black and white Nike Pro's, they say "22" in white stitching on the front, and are size 12. Juan Gonzalez signed these cleats on the tongue, "Juan Gonzalez, Home Run #1, KC Royals," and they show game-use. The signature is in silver marker and rates a 9. This bat shows good use with ball, hit, blue and white transfer, and rack marks on the front and left barrel. A moderate coat of pine tar is on the upper handle and "22" is on the knob end in silver marker. Juan signed the front barrel in silver marker with inscription "Home Run #1 2004" which rates an 8. Manufacturer: Carolina Clubs, Model Number: Pro Model, Labeling Period: 2004, Length: 35 inches, Weight: 32-3/5 ounces, Wood: Maple, Finish: Black. The bat, bat and cleat autographs each come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
