One of the most storied teams in the history of baseball, the 1927 Yankees roster featured an unprecedented six Hall of Famers, including Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Hoyt, Combs and Pennock. Six Yankees batted over .300 that year, among whom are Gehrig (.373), Ruth, Lazzeri, Combs, Meusel and Paschal. Winning 110 games, a record-setting performance at the time, they went on to beat the Pirates 4-0 in the World Series. 1927 is also the year that Babe Ruth hit 60 homeruns, a record that would last for decades before Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961. We offer a 1927 American League World Series press pin made by gold and silversmiths Dieges & Clust in New York. This screwback pin is in EX-MT condition with light scratching. Made of metal and gold in color, an embossed baseball with two crossed bats decorates the center. Three strips of red, white and blue enamel read "*Press*, World Series, American League." These types of pins are one of the most desirable and scarce baseball collectibles, originally given out only to the press that covered the World Series. A 1927 World Series press pin recently sold at auction for over $5000.
