$100 gold certificates were produced from 1863-1922. 1870 marked the issue of a newer note that featured a portrait of U.S. Senator Thomas Benton, "Old Bullion," on the left of the face. This choice and rare specimen features practically perfect centering. On the orange back is a large "C" ("C note") on the left side, from the Roman numeral or the first letter of the word "century." It shows wear grades an overall Very Fine.
