Although leading the Yankees with 45 RBIs, Mickey Mantle's declining .260 batting average in mid-1951 led manager Casey Stengel to send him down to the minors (he would return in September). This important contract dated July 15, 1951 allowed the Yankees to assign Mantle to their Kansas City Minor League affiliate for $100.00, and allowed them to recall him before October 1st for $500.00. By the time of 1951 World Series, Mantle was back in New York.
