A multi-talented offensive player, Mickey Mantle could hit for both average (.298 lifetime) and for power (536 home runs). He also had good speed to help him in the outfield and on the bases. He was the first power hitting switch-hitter in baseball when he broke in with the Yankees in 1951. Mantle was one of the leaders in the Yankees' winning 12 AL pennants and seven World Series. He won three American League MVP awards and the 1956 Triple Crown. Mantle led the AL in home runs four different years, including the 1958 season. A fierce competitor, Mantle excelled in the post-season. He set World Series career records for home runs, RBIs, runs, extra base hits and walks. Mantle was elected to the Baseball HoF in 1974. On the left outside tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "44" on it. On the inside back collar of the jersey is an additional manufacturers tag with "Mantle 1959" in script embroidered in blue thread on it. Across the front of the jersey is "NEW YORK" which appears to be restored. On the back of the jersey is the player number "7." All lettering and numbering is done in blue felt. There is an autograph in black marker rating an 8 on the right front of the jersey below the letters. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind with the exception of New York. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
