Mike Piazza entered the 2004 season only needing 4 home runs to tie the record for most homers hit by a catcher. Carlton Fisk held the original record by hitting 351 home runs as a catcher. On April, 27 2004 Mike Piazza tied the record by hitting a home run to left-center with one out in the sixth off of Dodgers pitcher Hideo Nomo at Dodger Stadium, the first team he played for. This home run moved Mike Piazza in 58th place all-time on the home run list passing another great Joe DiMaggio. Mike Piazza would break the record on May 5, 2004 against the SF Giants by hitting a Jerome Williams pitch over the wall at Shea Stadium. A sure Hall of Famer, Mike Piazza will go down in the record books as one of the greatest hitting catchers of all time. This Mizuno bat shows all the attributes of a game ready bat, with black rack marks covering all sides of the barrel and handle. Mike's uniform number "31" is written on both ends of the bat in black marker. Manufacturer: Mizuno, Model Number: Pro LTD, Labeling Period: 1996-00, Length: 34-1/2 inches, Weight: 31-2/3 ounces, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA and a Steiner Certificate.
