It took one hit to change the Red Sox’s fate in the 2004 postseason and David Ortiz did it. The outlook was bleak for Boston as they trailed the New York Yankees 0-3 in the ALCS, when Ortiz’s 12th inning walk-off homer began the Sox's comeback. He was the unanimous choice for ALCS MVP with three home runs, a .387 batting average, and 11 RBI. He again proved himself in the World Series, hitting .308 with one home run and knocking in 4 RBIs in Boston's triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals. On the inside back headband of the cap is the "New Era" manufacturers tag. To the right of that is an additional manufacturers tag with the cap size "7 5/8" on it. To the left of the "New Era" tag is an official "MLB Licensee" manufacturers tag. On the underside of the bill of the cap is "34" in black marker. On the front of the cap is "B" in red on white tackle twill. On the left side of the cap is the official "2004 World Series" logo patch. On the front left of the cap is "04 WS Game used" and an autograph in silver marker rating an 8. The cap shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA and by a Steiner Certificate.
