One of baseball's modern-day home run kings (and Congress' favorite witness) debuted with Oakland in August 1986. That season, McGwire hit only 3 home runs in the 18 games he played. The following year, his first full season, McGwire hit 49 home runs and had a slugging percentage of .618, both leading the American League. He also drove in 118 RBIs, was named an All Star for the first time, and capture AL Rookie of the Year honors. Teaming with fellow slugger Jose Conseco, McGwire's power helped the Athletics to three consecutive World Series in 1988, 1989 and 1990, and provided the punch for Oakland to win the MLB crown in 1988. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Russell" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "50" on it. Attached to that are two additional manufacturers tags with "100% POLYESTER" and "2" EXTRA SLEEVE LENGTH" on them. Across the front of the jersey is "Athletics" in script. Below that on the left and on the back of the jersey is the player number "25." Across the back is "McGWIRE." All lettering and numbering is done in green on yellow tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the "Athletics elephant" embroidered logo patch. On the right sleeve is the "Russell" embroidered logo. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Steiner Certificate.
