Lawrence Taylor was one of the most intimidating linebackers in NFL history. He was the only defensive player in NFL history to be consensus Player of Year (1986). Taylor led NY Giants to Super Bowl titles in 1986 and '90 seasons. He has played in a record 10 Pro Bowls (1981-90). Lawrence Taylor retired after the 1993 season with 132 1/2 sacks, and was inducted into the Pro Football HoF in 1999. This auction includes a piece of the Giants stadium turf. The brown leather ball has the "Wilson" manufacturers name imprinted in gold and black on both panels below the laces. Below that on one panel is "Official" in script, "NFL," "Paul Tagliabu" in script and "COMMISSIONER" imprinted in black. Below the "Wilson" name on the other panel below the laces is the inflation valve, inflation information, "MADE IN U.S.A." and "National Football League American Football Conference National Football Conference" imprinted in black. There is an autograph and "56" in silver marker rating a 9 on one panel. The rectangular piece of synthetic turf measures 17" x 13 ½" x ¾" thick. The top side of the turf is simulated grass with the bottom side being light green foam padding. The ball is in mint condition and comes with a Steiner glass presentation case. The turf is in good condition with very slight fraying at two places on one edge. Accompanied by a Steiner Certificate and by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
