A model both on and off the field, ROY WHITE was a solid, quiet leader on the Yankee teams that fell on hard times in the late 1960s and early 1970s. White became a fixture in the outfield after joining the team in 1965. He spent his entire 15 year career with the Yankees. He was a dependable hitter, had decent speed (233 career stolen bases), and was superb defensively. He led the league in runs scored in 1976, helping New York to it's first World Series of the Decade. In 1978, White had his best postseason, hitting .333 with a home run and four RBIs in the World Series won by the Yankees. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "40" on it. On the inside back collar is an additional manufacturers tag with "White 78 2" in script embroidered in navy blue thread. Across the front of the jersey is "NEW YORK." On the back of the jersey is the player number "6." All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Yankees Steiner letter.
