CHRIS CHAMBLISS came to the Yanks in a trade with the Cleveland Indians, and provided solidity at first base. Along with Thurman Munson, he was a leader of the great 1970s Yankee teams. The 1971 AL Rookie of the Year was named an All Star and helped New York to the World Series in 1976. He assisted in the Yankee back-to-back World Championship in 1977 and 1978. In 1979, Chambliss hit .280 with 18 homers and 63 RBIs for the Yankees. Though he left New York for Atlanta, Chambliss returned to finish out his 17 year career with the Yankees. He retired with a lifetime .279 batting average, 2109 hits and 185 home runs. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "46" on it. On the inside back collar is an additional manufacturers tag with "Chambliss 79 2" in script embroidered in navy blue thread. Across the front of the jersey is "NEW YORK." On the back of the jersey is the player number "10." All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Yankees Steiner letter.
