When he made his major league debut with the Athletics in 1989, many thought JIM ABBOTT was just a publicity stunt: the left-handed pitcher was born without a right hand. Abbott quickly proved otherwise, and become one of the better lefties in the AL. Abbott was traded to the Yanks in 1993 and immediately made his presence felt. In the heat of the pennant race in September, Abbott threw a no-hitter to lift the Yanks to victory over the Indians. This was his high point in pinstripes, with Abbott being traded from the club after the 1994 season. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Russell" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "48" on it. Above that is an additional manufacturers tag with "1993" on it. Attached to the "Russell" tag are two additional manufacturers tags with care instructions and "2" EXTRA LENGTH" on them. Across the front of the jersey is "NEW YORK." On the back of the jersey is the player number "25." All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game use with some loose threads on the lettering. The jersey appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Yankees Steiner letter.
