A solid right-handed pitcher, TONY CLONINGER spent his entire major league playing career in the National League, with the Braves, Reds and Cards, retiring after the 1972 season. His greatest accomplishment came on July 3, 1966, when he became the first National League player to hit two grand slams in the same game, and remains the only pitcher ever to do so. Cloninger became a Yankee coach in 1992, helping mold a young pitching staff. He continued as a coach with New York through the 2001 season. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Russell" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "50" on it. Attached to that is an additional manufacturers tag with "100% POLYESTER" on it. On the left breast is the "NY" logo in blue tackle twill. On the back of the jersey is the player number "40" in blue tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the official "1995 All Star Game" embroidered logo patch. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Yankees Steiner letter.
