Kaz Matsui is the latest top Japanese baseball player to come to the United States. Signed by the Mets in 2003 after a season in which he hit .305 with 33 home runs, Matsui had previously won four Gold Gloves and two stolen base titles in the Japanese leagues. The switch-hitting Shortstop hit only .272 in the 147 games he appeared in for the Mets. On the inside left front tail of the jersey is the "Majestic" manufacturers tag. Attached to that are four additional manufacturers tags with the jersey size "46" and "set 5 2004" and "+1" slv" and "-2" body" on them. Across the front of the jersey is "Mets" in script. Below that on the left and on the back is the player number "25." Across the back is "MATSUI. All lettering and numbering is done in blue on orange shadow-edge black tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the official "Shea Stadium 40th Anniversary" embroidered logo patch. Below that is embroidered "Ya Gotta Believe TUG." On the left sleeve is the official "Mets" embroidered logo patch. Below that is the "Majestic" embroidered logo. On the back outside collar is the official "MLB" embroidered logo. There is an autograph in silver marker rating a 7-8 on the "5" of the player number on the back of the jersey. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
