A reliable hitter and good fielder, Don Kessinger was a fixture in the Cubs infield for over a decade. Kessinger led all NL Shortstops in putouts three years, and in double-plays and assists four times. Recipient of two Gold Gloves, Kessinger started in five All Star Games for the National League, and was selected to the team an additional year. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "38" on it. Below that is "1971" embroidered in blue thread. On the inside back collar is an additional manufacturers tag with "71 -1 - 38" embroidered on it in blue thread. Across the front of the jersey is "CHICAGO." Below that at left and on the back of the jersey is the player number "11." All lettering and numbering is done in blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the official "Cubs" embroidered logo patch. There is an autograph in blue marker rating an 8 on the right front tail of the jersey. On the inside front waistband of the Jim Colborn pants is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the pants size "34" on it. Adjacent to that is an additional manufacturers tag with "48-71-1-34-24"" embroidered in blue thread on it. Adjacent to that is "A4000 OPC" stamped in black ink. Both the jersey and the pants show good game use. The numbers on both the front and back of the jersey have been restored. There appers to be no other alterations of any kind. The jersey is accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
