Johnny Podres broke into the major leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1953. Compiling a 9-4 record with an ERA of .423, Podres was also an offensive threat at the plate, batting .306. In the World Series, he was bested by the Yankees in the one game he started. A solid contributor with the Dodgers, Podres went on to lead Brooklyn to the 1955 World Championships, and was named World Series MVP. On the back inside collar of the jersey is the "Rawlings" manufacturers tag. Attached to that is an additional manufacturers tag with the jersey size "44" on it. On the left front tail of the jersey is embroidered "Extra 53" in script. Across the front of the jersey is "Dodgers" in script in blue felt. Below that on the left is the player number "45" in red felt. On the back is the player number "45" in blue felt. There is an autograph in blue marker rating a 9 on the inside back collar of the jersey. The jersey shows good game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The jersey may have orginally been an "extra" jersey for the season, and possibly may have been used in the World Series. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
