One of the most complete baseball players ever, Willie Mays could hit for average and power, was an excellent base runner, a spectacular center fielder and had a great arm. An All-Star from 1954 through 1969, Mays won the 1954 NL batting title, was a four-time NL home run leader, was named league MVP in 1954 and 1965, and won four consecutive NL stolen base titles from 1956 to 1959. A Gold Glove winner from 1957 to 1968, the "Say Hey Kid" had perhaps his most memorable moment with a dramatic over the shoulder catch in 1954 that helped the Dodgers to the NL pennant. In the 1958 season, Mays had his first Grand Slam home run, and recorded his 1,000th career hit. Mays' career stats include 660 home runs and a .302 batting average. He was elected to the Baseball HoF in 1979. On the inside back collar of the jersey is the "MacGregor" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "42" on it. Below that is an additional tag with "Mays" in script embroidered in red thread on it. Across the front of the jersey is "SAN FRANCISCO" done in black on orange tackle twill. On the back of the jersey is the player number "24" done in black on orange tackle twill. The jersey shows game excellent game-use with the letters and numbers heavily worn. The jersey appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA.
