Nolan Ryan was arguably the most dominating pitcher of his day, throwing a career record seven no-hit shutouts, three more than any other pitcher in baseball history. This unique jersey is from that seventh no-hit game on May 1, 1991 at Arlington, Texas. Ryan, at the age of 44, threw a total of 122 pitches, 83 for strikes, struck out a total of 16 batters, and walked two with only two balls making it out of the infield. The final out occurred when Roberto Alomar of Toronto swung and missed on a 93 mph fastball in the ninth inning. Alomar was Ryan's 5,361st career strikeout victim. The game was Ryan's 305th career victory. One of the greatest power pitchers in the history of the game, Ryan is the only pitcher in MLB history to record 2,000 strike outs in both the American and National Leagues. When he retired in 1993, Ryan had set the MLB record with 5,714 career strikeouts. Selected to eight All Star Games, Ryan was elected to the Baseball HoF in 1999. On the inside back collar of the jersey is the "Goodman & Sons" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and "2" in black marker on it. Across the front of the jersey is "Rangers" in blue on red tackle twill. Below that on the left and on the back of the jersey is the player number "34" in blue on red tackle twill. Across the back is "RYAN" in blue tackle twill. There is an autograph in blue marker rating a 9 on the front right of the jersey below the team name. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The jersey is accompanied by a limited edition numbered 16" x 20" color photographic print (number 141 of 711) of the moment Ryan struck out Alomar to end the game. The print is autographed by Ryan in silver marker rating an 8. The jersey is accompanied by a LOA from the team signed by Nolan Ryan and manager Bobby Valentine, and an additional LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
