Considered by many to be the best defensive left fielder to have played the game, Boston's Carl Yastrzemski was also a leading offensive player. The 1967 Triple Crown winner is the only AL player to record 3,000 hits and 400 home runs in a career. Yaz led the Red Sox to the AL pennant in 1967 and was named league MVP. He won the AL batting title in 1963 and 1968. A fixture by the "green monster" at Fenway Park from 1961 through 1989, when he retired he ranked first in MLB games played and had won six Gold Gloves. An 18-time All-Star, Yastrzemski was elected to the Baseball HoF in 1989. On the front left tail of the jersey is the "McAuliffe Uniform Corp." manufacturers tag. Adjacent to that are two additional manufacturers tags with "71" and the jersey size "44" on them. Across the front of the jersey is "RED SOX" in red on black felt. On the back of the jersey is the player number "8" in red on black felt. There is an autograph in black marker rating a 9 on the right front middle of the jersey. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA by Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA and an additional LOA.
