Easily winning the National League pennant by 13 1/2 games over the Braves, the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers went on to meet the Yankees in the World Series for the third time in four years. Pitcher Johnny Podres emerged as the unlikely hero, pitching a complete game 8-3 victory in Game 3 and the pivotal 2-0 complete game shutout in Game 7 to clinch the Series. The last time a Brooklyn team had won a World Championship was 1900, before the first "Official" World Series (1903), when the team was called the Brooklyn "Superbas" and the series was called the "Chronicle Telegraph Cup." This ONL Giles baseball has been signed in blue ink by 31 members of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. Signatures include Duke Snider (HOF), Tom Lasorda (HOF) and Don Bessent on the sweet spot, Pee Wee Reese (HOF), Roy Campanella (HOF), Sandy Koufax (HOF), Jackie Robinson (HOF), Bert Hamric, Joe Black, Don Newcombe, Frank Kellerty, Jim Hughes, Carl Furillo, Johnny Podres, Dixie Howell, Carl Erskine, Gil Hodges and many others. The ball is toned with signatures that average a grade of 8. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
