The 1992 World Series saw the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Atlanta Braves (their second World Series loss in a row) in six games. This was both the first Canadian appearance and the first Canadian victory in the World Series. Having lost Game One to a Tom Glavine four hitter, the Jays evened the Series with an Ed Sprague ninth inning home run. The Jays took a 3-1 Series lead before Atlanta won Game Five with a Lonnie Smith Grand Slam, bringing the Series back to Atlanta. The Jays prevailed in Game Six to win the Series however, led by World Series MVP Dave Winfield's tie-breaking two run homer in the 11th inning. This 1992 World Series trophy was presented to Paul Markle, the Director of Marketing for the Blue Jays. Just over a foot tall at the highest flag, the trophy features a gold crown atop an arc centerpiece over a silver baseball, surrounded by 26 gold flags with black lettering on stanchions, one for each Major League team. The two World Series teams' press pins are mounted on the 7" diameter black base, in front of the silver baseball. The surrounding gold band reads "World Series Champions, Toronto Blue Jays, 1992, Paul Markle." In overall NRMT condition with minor oxidation on the arc and bottom of the silver baseball.
