The team began life in the ABA as the Houston Mavericks in 1967-68 and moved to Carolina after two seasons. Playing as a "regional" franchise with home games in several different cities, the Cougars made the playoffs in 1969-70 but lost in the first round. After the 1973-74 season, the franchise moved and became the Utah Stars. While at Carolina, the Cougars were first team coached by Hall of Famer Larry Brown, and featured fellow Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham. On the inside back tail of the jersey is the "Rawlings" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "40" on it. Adjacent to that is an additional manufacturers tag with wash instructions on it. Across the front of the jersey is "CAROLINA." Below that and on the back of the jersey is the player number "10." All lettering and numbering is done in Carolina blue on white tackle twill. The jersey shows light wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
