White Game-Used jerseys are very rare. With his signing by the New York Jets in 1965, Joe Namath gave the young American Football League instant credibility, and the strength to eventually merge with the older NFL. With his charisma and flamboyant style, "Broadway Joe" was a public relations dream for the Jets and the AFL. Namath was not just appearance but also performed on the field. His greatest season was in 1968. When the Jets faced the Oakland Raiders in the AFL Championship Game, Namath stepped up and threw three TD passes to lead New York to victory. Entering Super Bowl III against the Baltimore Colts, the Jets were big underdogs. Namath once again provided the effort and leadership for New York. In a superior performance, he threw for 206 yards and the Jets upset the Colts 16-7. Namath was named MVP of the Super Bowl. In 13 seasons he recorded over 27,000 yards passing and threw 173 touchdowns. Namath was elected to the Pro Football HoF in 1985. On the outside bottom of the back tail flap of the jersey is the "Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturers tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "50" on it. Adjacent to that is the "Thorpe Sporting Goods" distributors tag. On the front and back of the jersey is the player number "12" in green tackle twill. On each sleeve of the jersey is the player number "12" in white tackle twill. Across the back of the jersey is "NAMATH" in green tackle twill. There is an autograph in black marker rating a strong 8 on the back of the jersey below the player number. The jersey shows excellent game use with dirt, blood and sweat stains. The jersey appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from Jimmy Spence of PSA/DNA.
