One of the greatest Defensemen to play his position, Eddie Shore was an imposing blend of talent and intimidation. His end to end rushes became as famous as his crushing bodychecks. Shore broke in with the Bruins in 1926-27, and helped them to their first Stanley Cup in 1929. Shore was named to the NHL's All Star First Team Defense seven times. He was awarded the Hart Trophy as the leagues MVP in 1933, 1935, 1936 and 1938 - the only Defenseman to receive this honor four times. Shore's leadership and stamina were primary reasons behind Boston's success in 1939, when he led the Bruins to seven playoff victories against the Rangers and the Maple Leafs, capturing the Stanley Cup. After his NHL career, he became a team owner and one of the driving forces in the AHL. The annual award for the best Defenseman in the AHL is named the Eddie Shore Plaque. Shore was elected to the Hockey HoF in 1947. On the inside back left tail of the jersey is the "Horace Partridge" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "44" on it. On the front and back of the jersey is the player number "2" done in black on yellow felt. On each sleeve is the "Bruins B" done in black on yellow felt. The jersey shows good game use with repairs by the team to fix tears on the left shoulder, both sleeves and lower back of the sweater. There appears to be no alterations of any kind.
