Founded in the early 1990s, the World Boxing Union (WBU) is a sanctioning body for professional boxing. Legendary boxer George Foreman was awarded the World Boxing Union world championship in 1994 and would defend the title until 1997, when he gave it up in order to fight Shannon Briggs in a WBC match. This ring is an exact duplicate of the one made for Foreman; there are only two known. The left shank features two fighters in a bout and the name "Foreman" is detailed above it. On the right shank is the year 1994 with a very large "1" surrounded by laurel leaves, indicating Foreman's top ranking in the WBU. Inside the ring is inscribed "Big George". The ring is a size 13 and is made of 10K gold with red stone center.
