Offered in this lot are a set of Babe Didrikson Zaharias engraved Wilson "Dyna-Weight" Manufactured irons (2-9i). These "blade-style" irons were used by Babe to win the 1947 British Ladies Amateur Championship. According to the accompanying LOAs, these irons were given to the daughter of Aniela Goldthwaite who was an amateur golfer during the 1930s through the 1950's. Mrs. Goldthwaites' promoter was Mrs. Bertha Bowen, surrogate mother and life-long friend of Babe Didrikson. Over the years, Babe became close personal friends with Mrs. Goldthwaite and her daughter Frances, often going shopping with her, and teaching her how to play golf. After Babe won the 1947 British Ladies Amateur Championship, she gave the clubs to Frances circa. 1952 so she could practice her swing. Babe told Frances when giving her the clubs "hit only with the three iron and when you can do that, you can hit any of the rest". The irons show good use but have not been damaged in any way giving them an overall condition of EX. These clubs are accompanied by two LOAs from Aniela Goldthwaite and a LOA from her daughter, Frances Goldthwaite.
