This is a full 1933 West Point dress gray cadet's uniform, consisting of jacket, trousers and cap. This traditional uniform, still worn today, was patterned after U.S. military uniforms worn during the war of 1812, specifically to honor the 22nd Infantry at the Battle of Chippewa, the first regular formation to defeat a superior British force. The swallow-tailed jacket has black silk core on the breast, herringbone cuffs and coat-tails, and three rows of gilt bullet buttons, all made by hand in the Cadet Store Tailor Shop. The collar tag has a hand written date of "10-31-33." The trouser tag has a handwritten date of "6-16-34." Also included is the "tarbucket" hat with black ("firstie") cockade and a red, white and blue feather plume. The uniform is in superb condition, no rips or tears, the interior linings show some wear, the hat shows minor wear on the top and some minor tarnishing of the brass.
