The 1961 season will always be remembered for Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle's pursuit of Babe Ruth's home run record. Maris, as you know, went on to break the record, while Mantle, who finished the season with a team-high .317 average, was forced to drop out in September with a season-ending injury. Yogi Berra, who won the most World Series titles of any Yankees with 10, Bobby Richardson and Whitey Ford had the best seat in the house, as teammates of Mantle and Maris. Richardson led the Yankees with hits (173) that season, while Ford was the team leader in wins with 25. This baseball has been hand signed by Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Bobby Richardson. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
