As a 6'9" center, Dave Cowens more than made up for his lack of height with his drive, determination and work ethic. His 11-year NBA career included 7 NBA All-Star Games, 1973 league and All-Star Game MVP honors, and two NBA Championships with the Boston Celtics (1974 and 1976). Dave was an All-America at Florida State, and was named NBA Co-Rookie of the Year in 1971. Cowens retired after the 1979-80 season, however he returned in 1982-83 to play 40 games with the Milwaukee Bucks before retiring for good. During his 11 seasons, Cowens scored 13,516 points and pulled down 10,444 career rebounds. In 1996, Cowens was among the elite members named to the NBA's 50 greatest players team.
