Before Jordan was in the air, Julius Erving was soaring and swooping to the basket, seeming to hang suspended for minutes at a time. One of the most creative and athletic players to put on a pair of sneakers, "Dr. J" made house calls at the University of Massachusetts where he averaged over 20 points and 20 rebounds a game. In the ABA, Erving earned three league MVP awards, was a four-time All-Star and led the Nets to the 1974 and 1976 ABA Championships. With the merger of the ABA and NBA, Erving began an 11-year NBA career with Philadelphia. During his NBA tenure, he was an All-Star every season, winning Game MVP honors in 1977 and 1983. Julius was named league MVP in 1981, and led the Sixers to the NBA title in 1983. In his 16-year pro career, Erving scored 30,026 points and pulled down 10,525 rebounds in 1,243 games. In 1996, "Dr. J" was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. Silver Relief medallion. In excellent condition; nose and lips slightly worn.
