At Springs Valley High School, Larry Bird showed Indiana basketball fans what was to come, averaging 30 points and 17 rebounds per game as a senior. He was a consensus All-America at Indiana State, and was named NCAA Player of the Year in 1979 when he led his team to the NCAA Final Four. His entire pro career (1979-92) was spent with the Boston Celtics, which started with the 1980 Rookie of the Year award. A nine-time All-NBA First Team selection, "Larry Legend" was a 12-time NBA All-Star. Bird was named NBA MVP three times (1984-86), and NBA Finals MVP in 1984 and 1986. Superior from the three-point line, Bird combined his outside jump shot skills with great drives and inside play to lead the Celtics to the 1981, 1984 and 1986 NBA Championships. Bird however was not just an offensive but an all-around great player, ending his career in the top ten in NBA career steals, along with career averages of 10.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 24.3 points per game. In 1992, he earned a Gold Medal as a member of the USA Olympic "Dream Team," and in 1996 was named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players. Zinc-Etched medallion. In NM condition.
