No one who followed the NBA can forget Jerry West's "bomb" of a shot in the 1970 NBA Finals. West had a 14-year NBA career with Los Angeles and was named to 14 All-Star Teams (Game MVP in 1972) and 10 All-NBA First Teams. He was instrumental in the Lakers' NBA record 33-game win streak in 1971-72, and led the team to the 1972 NBA Championships. West had previously won Finals MVP honors in the 1969 NBA Playoffs. He retired in 1973 having scored 25,182 career points. His career average of 27.0 points per game ranks fifth in NBA history, and his 1965 Playoff scoring average of 46.3 points per game is still an NBA record. West won a Gold Medal at the 1960 Olympic Games. In college he led the University of West Virginia to three consecutive conference titles and the 1959 NCAA Finals, winning tournament MVP honors that season. In 1996 West was named one of the NBA's 50 greatest players, having been enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980. Purple dureen jersey with white, yellow and purple stripe trim around neck and arm openings. On the center front tail of the jersey is the "Tiernan" distributor's tag. Across the front of the jersey is "LAKERS." Below that and on the back of the jersey is the player number "44." Across the back of the jersey is "WEST." The lettering is done in yellow on white tackle twill. The numbering is done in white shadow-edged yellow tackle twill. The jersey shows good game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
