The 1983 Raiders defeated the Redskins 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII (January 22, 1984) at Tampa Stadium, to capture their only Lombardi Trophy in while in Los Angeles. The game will be forever known as "Black Sunday," in reference both to the Raiders' colors and the fact that the Redskins had come into the game as a heavy favorite. This size 11 1/2 Los Angeles Raiders Super Bowl XVIII Championship ring is cast in 14K white gold. On the top and bottom of the ring face is "Los Angeles Raiders" and "World Champions" in relief on a black background. On the left and right ring face are five round chips each for a total of ten. Centered on the top of the ring are three footballs made of ten round chips in total, each football has a brilliant cut stone set in the center of it. The three footballs signify the Raiders' third World Championship. On the right shank is "Superbowl XVIII" in relief over a black background. Beneath this are two engraved banners that read "Raiders 38" and "Redskins 9," between which is a rendition of the Lombardi Trophy. Beneath this is AFC Champions, Raiders 30 Seahawks 14" in relief, and beneath this is a rendition of the AFC logo. Beneath this is an engraved banner that reads "Pride," with "1983" in relief directly below. On the left shank is the recipient's name and position in relief over a black background. Beneath this a rendition of the Raiders logo surrounded by laurel leaves in relief. Beneath this an engraved banner that reads "Poise," with "1983" in relief directly below. On the inside of the ring is stamped "14K." Ring recipient's name is available on request. Ring shows light wear and is in overall EXMT-NRMT condition.
