The 1983 Redskins defeated the 49ers in the NFC championship game to advance to Super Bowl XVII versus the Raiders. This 1983 NFC Championship ring is a prototype and practically identical to the one that great Redskins RB John Riggins was given in celebration of that Championship Game victory. On the top and bottom face of this size 10 1/2 ring is "Washington Redskins" and "NFC Champions" in relief on a black background. On the left and right ring face is "19" and "83," respectively. Centered on the top of the ring is a football done in synthetic diamonds with a red ruby-colored stone football set in its center. This "double football" is set on a red ruby-colored stone. On the right shank is "Riggins" in relief on a black background. Beneath this is a rendition of the Redskins logo and the player number "44" in relief. On the left shank is the NFL log in relief on a black background with an engraved banner that reads "Washington 24, San Francisco 21." Beneath this is a Super Bowl logo in relief. On the inside of the ring is engraved "S 8560-1." Ring is in overall NRMT condition.
