Phil Niekro pitched well into his 40s, utilizing a knuckleball to chew up innings as a staff workhorse. Using his knuckleball and a fiery fastball to frustrate hitters, Niekro recorded 121 wins after he turned 40, the best record all-time by anyone over that age. He and Joe Niekro hold the record for most career wins by brothers, with 539. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with the jersey size "44" on it. Inside the collar is a embroidered strip tag with "Niekro 85 1" on it. Across the front of the jersey is "NEW YORK." On the back is the player number "35." All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. On the left sleeve is a black armband in memory of Yankees clubhouse man Pete Sheehy. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
