Viola won the Cy Young Award with a 24-7 record in 1988, leading the AL in wins and winning percentage and finishing third in ERA (2.64) and strikeouts (193). On the inside back collar of the jersey is the "RAWLINGS" manufacturer's size tag "46" with wash instructions. Attached to this tag is a "SET 1 1988" flag tag. Across the front of the jersey is "MINNESOTA" in red on blue tackle twill. Below that on the left and on the back of the jersey is the player number "16" in red on blue tackle twill. Across the back is "VIOLA" in blue tackle twill on a grey nameplate sewn on the jersey. On the left sleeve is the round "Minnesota Twins" patch. On the right sleeve is the embroidered "Rawlings" logo. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
