Although Willie McCovey played hurt throughout much of his 22-year career, the Giants' first baseman used a sweeping swing to belt 521 homers and collect more than 2,200 hits. He led the National League in homers three times and twice in RBIs, as well as pacing the circuit in slugging percentage for three consecutive years (1968-70). McCovey earned National League MVP honors in 1969, ten years after earning National League Rookie of the Year in 1959. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with wash instructions and the jersey size "44" on it. Below that is the "1972" embroidered year tag. On the inside back collar is an additional manufacturer's tag with "McCovey" embroidered in black thread on it. Across the front of the jersey is "SAN FRANCISCO." On the back of the jersey is the player number "44." All lettering and numbering is done in black on orange tackle twill. The jersey is autographed on front in black marker and rates a 9. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
