After battling injuries and struggling to find his swing, he burst onto the national stage when he broke Roger Maris's single-season mark for homers in 1998. This jersey is from McGwire's historic 1998, 73 home run season. On the inside left front tail of the jersey is the "Rawlings" manufacturers tag with wash instructions on it. Attached to the side of that is an additional manufacturers tag with "SET 1 1998" on it. Attached to the bottom of the "Rawlings" tag is an additional manufacturers tag with the jersey size "52". Across the front of the jersey is "Cardinals" in script and the "Cardinals on a Bat" logo embroidered in red, yellow and black. On the back of the jersey is the player number "25" in red on black tackle twill. Across the back is "MC GWIRE" in red on black tackle twill on a grey name plate. Custom hemmed straight bottom. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
