Larry Sherry pitched for the Dodgers from 1958 to 1963, however 1959 was his highlight year. That season, Sherry went 7-2 with three saves and an ERA of 2.19 as the Dodgers captured the NL Pennant. In the World Series, he earned the MVP award by appearing in four games, winning one and saving two others, pitching 12 2/3 innings, striking out 5 batters and allowing only one earned run. This uniform was worn in Games 2 and 4 of the Series. Sherry was one of the few Jewish baseball players of the era. Grey flannel jersey with blue stripe trim around cuffs, around collar and down the front of the jersey. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Spalding" manufacturers tag. Attached to that is an additional manufacturers tag with the jersey size "44" on it. Below that is "L Sherry 59" in script embroidered in blue. Across the front of the jersey is "Los Angeles" in script in blue felt. Below that on the left is the player number "51" in red felt. On the back of the jersey is the player number "51" in blue felt. There is an autograph and "1959 W.S. M.V.P." in blue marker rating a strong 8 on the front of the jersey below the player number. Grey flannel pants with blue stripe trim around belt loops and down outseams, blue leather belt with white metal buckle. On the inside back waistband is the "Spalding" manufacturers tag. Attached to that is an additional manufacturers tag with the pants size "36" waist on it. Adjacent to the "Spalding" tag is "L Sherry 27" embroidered in blue. On the inside front waistband is an additional manufacturers tag with "1959 SET 1" on it. The blue wool stirrup-style socks have no manufacturers tagging. The jersey, pants and socks show excellent game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. There is a small brown spot on the left knee of the pants. The socks have several small holes in them. The jersey, pants and socks are accompanied by a LOA from Larry Sherry and an additional LOA from James Spence Authentication.
