On January 26, 2001 "A-Rod" was signed as a free agent by the Texas Rangers, and quickly marketed himself as a "franchise" player. That season he proved he was such a player, belting 52 home runs and driving in 135. He also set a career-best batting average of .318 and led the league in runs scored (133). This overall outstanding game-used bat has a small crack in the upper handle. Alex signed the front barrel in blue marker with inscription "2001 game used" which rates a 9.
