Written on the knob end is "VIII" in black marker. Pops played 20 amazing seasons in the majors, all with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1962-1982. This bat from the 1977-78 era shows evidence of ball and hit marks on the right and back barrel, with tape added to the lower handle in a spiral pattern to aide in grip.
