This is a five page personal letter from baseball legend Ty Cobb to Pittsburgh Pirates manager Fred Haney on September 14, 1954. The letter is comprised of Cobb giving tips and managerial advice to Haney about his struggling team who finished last in 1954. Cobb also gives detailed batting advice in the letter about Pittsburghs young star outfielder Frank Thomas who had a fourteen year major league career. The letter is written on Cobbs personal letterhead in green felt pen and signed by Cobb rating a solid 8. The letter has been folded with the first page showing some discoloration, the remaining pages are free of any discoloration and tears giving it an overall condition of VG-EX. The letter is accompanied by the original envelope and a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
