The ultimate clutch goaltender of this time, Gerry Cheevers was the backbone of the great Boston Bruins teams that won the Stanley Cup in 1970 and 1972. The first goalie to be known as the "third defenseman," Cheevers was one of the earliest aggressive, straying netminders due to his exceptional puck handling abilities. His most famous trademark was the painting of stitches on his mask, beginning in 1968, to indicate where he had been hit with a puck. This is Gerry Cheevers' 1985 Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ring. Cast in 10K yellow gold, on the top perimeter of this size 9 1/2 ring is "Hockey Hall Of Fame Member" in relief on a black background, accented by two circular stones. In the center is a black engraved rendition of a hockey player over a gold oval, with a round stone as the puck. On the left shank is an engraved banner that reads "G Cheevers", beneath which is a rendition of the Hockey Hall of Fame logo. Beneath this is an engraved banner that reads "1985." On the right shank is "Hockey Hall Of Fame" in relief on a black background. Beneath this is a rendition of the Hockey Hall of Fame building, and beneath that is "Est 1943" in relief. On the inside of the ring is stamped "IGO 10K." Ring shows light wear and is in overall EXMT-NRMT condition. Accompanied by a LOA from Gerry Cheevers.
